Cupcake Crime Scene

My little one will be two and we are celebrating her birthday tomorrow, I thought I'd dig deep and take out those culinary skills of mine and do some baking. I love baking.. there is something quite relaxing in being in the kitchen, getting your hands dirty, making something from scratch for the ones you love.


I did a test run the other night and the basic food coloring didn't give the best red or blue icing, so we picked up some super concentrated stuff at Aux 1000 Formes (you know, the icing that leaves your teeth and tongue stained for a day or so) Quite happy with the results !!


I spent the afternoon baking, mixing, preparing and finally.. the fun part.. putting it all together.

We had a few extra so the kidz got a taste test before the official cake smash tomorrow...

While I was writing the blog post, silence reined in the house.... and when there is silence, there is trouble. I peeked into the kitchen to find the following crime scene. I didn't know if I should laugh or cry. Two little ones where found nearby with red and blue icing smeared on their faces and marshmallow eyes in their hands. Looking at me with wide smiles... oh well, at least they left a few untouched.
