E-Session Love :)

Next year is the start of our new wedding coverage and with each package we offer an E-Session (couple session). This is a great way to get comfortable in front of the lense and have some great images to send out with those invitations or save the date cards.
Jeff and I had a wonderfull session recently with such a fun couple. We had such a great time, I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to shooting their wedding.

I'm glad I was able catch this one, it was one of those playfull moments that I just love to capture.. mostly when the clients least expect it.

I don't know about you, but fall is not complete without a bit of leaf fun :o) I can't wait to see what the cake cutting will be like.

Summer 2009 Sessions - retrospective

I must admit how great it is to look back at my work, especially this session. Five stunning women from Montreal decided to celebrate graduation and their friend’s birthday, all in one. My colleague and I followed the fab five through old Quebec until just after sunset. It was like they were being followed by paparazzi. I’m sure they enjoyed the curious onlookers as they were being photographed. It really was a blast !

You know me, I’m hiding the other four partners in crime for another post..be on the lookout !!

I miss real photo albums...

I remember when I used to pull out old photo albums and make my mom tell me the same stories over and over about each photograph. Viewing photos on a computer screen just does not have the same feeling. It's not as much about the the tangible paper images, but about the time spent side by side, listening to the stories... great quality time.

I think I’ll create an album for each of the kids for Christmas this year... I’ve been putting off printing photographs for months now. (I know, I know... what is that French expression... cordonnier mal chausse?)

As always, let me share with you some recent images of the kids. Time goes by so fast...My little one will be one in August !

Summer Diving Senior Nationals – Championnats nationaux senior d’été de plongeon- PEPS de l’Universite Laval (Alexandre Despatie, Emilie Heymans)

My favourite Olympic sport has always been diving...I’ve always told myself that one day I would sit in the stands and watch a competition “live”. Yesterday, on the Twitter wire the Nationals were announced via Quoifairequebec.com and my afternoon was pretty much set from there.

I was like a kid in a candy store ! Here are a few of my favourite images. The complete gallery can be viewed here.

Alexandre Despatie, Silver in Beijing and Silver in 2004 in Athens on the 3m not to mention his 37 national titles.

Alexandre Despatie and Reuben Ross syncro diving.
Emilie Heymans, 3 time Olympic medalist.

A little side story that I’ll share : Never be afraid to go ahead and ask !
A young lady came up to me (I must have looked official or something) and asked me what was the best way to get an autograph of Alexandre Despatie. Hummm. Since I was terribly close to the VIP section, I asked an "even more official looking" person if he could possible get Alexandre’s signature on her program. No problem he said ! A few mins later he came back with a signed program. The girl was ecstatic. I found out later that she had drove from New Brunswick to come see the competition.
Also, a special thanks to Luc Ricard who was more than generous, giving me the opportunity to capture some underwater images

My Dad

He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.
~Clarence Budington Kelland

--

We don't get to see my father very much. My parents live a day's drive away and Dad is out of the country quite a bit... In an age of cell phones and e-mails, we keep in touch.
This is my Dad when he was younger. There is such a striking resemblance to my son, it's crazy.

And here is one of my favourite photos of my son and my dad... He came to visit for under 20 hours before he was off again, to deal with the world.

I'll leave you with a few more quotes about fathers :

There are three stages of a man's life: He believes in Santa Claus, he doesn't believe in Santa Claus, he is Santa Claus. ~Author Unknown

The father who would taste the essence of his fatherhood must turn back from the plane of his experience, take with him the fruits of his journey and begin again beside his child, marching step by step over the same old road. ~Angelo Patri

A father carries pictures where his money used to be. ~Author Unknown

June 3rd, the Daily Click at Shutter Sisters

Today, I’ve been featured on the Daily Click at Shutter Sisters. (photo 151 from my 365 project) It’s a real honour to be chosen and featured by fellow photographers.

While I was playing on the floor with my 9 month old, Zak was eating his snack at the table. I glanced over my shoulder and asked my husband to get my camera. (It is always on our kitchen counter, ready for action). In general, I let my photographs just happen. There tends to be very little staging so I was very happy when he brought up his spoon with his little arm just in the right position for the silhouette.
When working with natural light, you are at the mercy of nature and not less than a minute later, the shadows were fading and eventually disappeared.

Everyday hides an exceptional photo, you just have to see it.

Loft Laurier with Big and Alexandra ! I enjoyed shooting the first one, I just had to go back and since my daughter is a big fan, getting some photos for her is a must ;-)

I must say, Big really knows how to give the crowd what they want !

Alexandra was such a great sport answering some interesting questions from the host.

You know I'm not leaving until I get a tattoo shot ;-)

Come join us for the last Loft Laurier on June 4th, Place Laurier, Quebec.

Loft Laurier - Loft Story 6, La Revanche

We needed to pick up some things at Place Laurier tonight, and since I’m in the habit of brining my camera everywhere now, here are some photos from tonight’s Loft Laurier.

Cass was the first to come on stage...

Another week in review....

This past weekend, my friend Sel came over for a spaghetti dinner. And just for the record, we make the best spag sauce ever !

She brought me some flowers .. and some homemade caramel :-)

Yesterday, we spent some time outside... cleaning up the yard, raking and picking up all the rotten apples that had fallen from our apple tree. After we had enough, we decided to go for a walk and our little princess fell fast asleep.

That's it for now...
